Pancakes anyone?

The lack of Haruka this episode made me sad… but I sure do love pancakes. Pancakes for breakfast, pancakes for dinner, pancakes for a snack, it doesn’t matter. Pancakes rule! Pancakes with Haruka is double the pleasure, double the winnage.

Yuto is living the dream. Love-love with Haruka one day, and out on a date with her sister the next. Even if she was doing it to set him straight, Yuto is one lucky guy. Who needs a harem when you’ve got the Nogizaka sisters? If this were any other series and Haruka wasn’t as dense as a lead weight we’d be seeing major jealous stalking about now. Haruka would be in a baseball cap and shade, taking shelter behind lamp posts, signs, and trees watching Yuto and Mika’s every move. And yes, a small dog would bark at her, almost blowing her cover.

You know that feeling, when you’re sitting in your room watching porn and things are getting really good… but then you hear your roommate (or your parents) unlocking the front door?

I wonder what’s on Discovery Channel tonight after Colossal Squid?

The problem with Shiina is not that she is useless generic, but because she’s out of place in this series. Haruka claims the spotlight, while Mika, Nanami, and Hazuki are fun minor characters. However, because Shiina was introduced later, once the whole Yuto-Haruka story and the whole Haruka is an otaku story were going, she was dead weight–an add on that could be used later, but had little relevance at that point. Even now with Yuto and Haruka practically together already, she’s become more of a hindrance instead of a rival. If Shiina had been introduced properly in episode 1 or episode 2 and not some random bubbly passerby that popped up each episode, her role would be more defined and pertinent to what is going on. Finally inserting her into the plot now does spice things up, but you’re moving away from what’s already been established and expected. Surprises are fun, but deviating from a formula that was working is almost never a good thing.

With each episode, I drool over grow to love Mika more and more. I’m such a siscon.

Mai was EPIC, but horribly animated.

Sumomo was criminally underrated and overshadowed by a trap.

I’m convinced. Goto Mai is the ultimate imouto voice; the quintessential imouto voice if you will. True she lacks the lengthy resume of a Nogawa Sakura or a Kugimiya Rie, but having graced us with her voice as an imouto in Happiness!, Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro na, and now Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu, there are few I’d rather hear. It’s a voice that, while higher pitched, doesn’t become tired and annoying after awhile. Goto Mai hasn’t done that much, but having heard her in the 3 aforementioned series, as well as ef – a tale of memories, Nanatsuiro Drops, and the Yotsunoha OVA, I can confidently say it’s a voice I really enjoy. And boy does it sure work for imouto characters!

So what’s the class going to do? Haunted house? A play? Maid Cafe? Tea Shop BeLoved? Something that will never be shown because all the screen time will be going towards Yuto and Haruka at another locale? Regardless, I’m sure we all see where this is going… Shiina monopolizes Yuto because they are committee members and Haruka gets lonely without him and grows jealous of Shiina. Yuto will inevitably have to pick Shiina over Haruka because of his responsibility to the class and relationships will be strained. It makes me wish the last episode was really the last episode.
