Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu – 02
Haruka is awesome.
I’m pretty sure Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu is going to end up as yet another harem romantic comedy. Buy you know… that’s okay by me! It’s a series I probably will never think about again, with the exception of bringing Noto Mamiko roles that I enjoy or using it as an example of “generic” and “been there, done that” series. This series runs on premium Haruka awesomeness, and Haruka awesomeness alone. She lacks the eccentricity of an Izumi Konata and the depth of a Ogiue Chika, but this she makes up for it with sheer cuteness. Right now she quite a shallow otaku girl, but damn does she look good in that maid outfit. Regardless of how the series turns out, there will always be Haruka… and Haruka is some top-choice AWESOME and WIN.

Image Haruka waking you up in the morning instead of meeting you on the way to school… “Asa da yo, Yuto-san!” Some people need coffee or a newspaper to get going in the morning. Haruka is all the caffeine and current events one needs.

Non-seifuku Haruka. Need more of this. It’s not like you go to Subway and order the same exact thing every time. The next episode looks to be Haruka’s house. Thumbs up right there. I like routine, but even I can’t order turkey, swiss, and mayo every time.

“This page is awesome. Real hard core.”
Haruka has her (apparently) first experience with doujin. Nothing like yaoi shounen-ai to get Haruka all flustered. I wonder what she would think of Ogiue’s doujin?

Any young woman interested in collecting figure is a-okay in my book. I’m also impressed she doesn’t live by the “buy it now, regret it later” mindset that many adhere by, but she has her reasons…

Napoleon went out happy, I’m sure. Harima would be proud. It must suck for Haruka to be from a well off family, yet she can’t freely spend money on her hobby. I guess even ojousama’s aren’t immune to the “my wallet is crying” reality of an otaku.

“Hatsu taiken…”
Another first time for Haruka. “It’s [her] first time looking at or touching it.”
Insert money, turn the knob… slowly… like that… just like that Haruka…

WIN! Haruka (especially in this shot) has that Seto San look going. Those two characters have pretty much nothing in common, so I’m not sure exactly why I’m getting that vibe. It’s probably the hair, but other than the color, not much else is similar… yet I can’t shake the mermaid feel.
If I were Haruka, I would have bought that Portable Dream Station first. I don’t know how many times cheap DVD-Rs at Fry’s have sold out because I would tell myself, “I’ll go there last because it’s out of the way.” I can understand not wanting to carry something around with you all day, but that’s what lockers or the trunk of your car are for. Plus, she’s know how much she could spend on Aki-chan gachapons, parfaits, and figures.

Moe checklist:
[x] Clumsy

My not so bold prediction for Haruka and Yuto: As kids, Yuto was the one who gave Haruka that first issue of Innocent Smile, turning her down her life’s path. There was some promise or some brief childhood friendship or some other significant event that took place at the time, but it has conveniently slipped both their minds. That or some other variation of a childhood love… I’ve watched Ai Yori Aoshi and Love Hina one too many times.
But whatever… Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu takes little brain power to watch, it’s hopefully short, and there is plenty of Haruka goodness. And the Haruka goodness is what I’m watching for.

I think someone has a thing for Haruka!
And who can blame you? Even “I’ve given up on women” Yuuto is interested! ^_^
@usagijen: I can agree on the “originality is overrated” a bit. Truly in the end, if one likes it, one likes it. But while originality could be overrated, rehash definitely becomes tiresome, and that’s something that will probably start appearing once the other characters are introduced. So long as Haruka remains though, I’m beyond content.
I’m loving this show as well, something which I didn’t expect when I first heard of its premise. This anime has grown on me with the first two episodes… and I don’t really care if it’s a rehash. It’s always been said that originality is overrated, and so long as you enjoy this show for what it is, that’s what really matters in the end
@MisterEd: They built a Fry’s much closer to where I live, so I no longer put it off (it used to be be a good 35-30 miles away). As for Haruka, another thing I have enjoyed about the show so far has been its tame use of fanservice. It’s there, but you don’t have pantsu flying all over the place, which gets tiresome quick.
Yeah, this show is a rehash. But Haruka is just too cute. I thought Sekirei was going to be my fanservicey harem show for summer, but I think I prefer Haruka.
And Fry’s has to be the first place you go, not the last. If the deal is actually a good one, they’ll run out fast. I try to be there when they open if it’s a good deal.
