Clannad… to be continued…

So I guess Kyoto Animation’s next series to air will not be Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu (or perhaps it will be?).

Clannad After Story TV Sequel to be Announced
posted on 2008-03-27 11:55 EDT

The May issue (on sale on March 29) of Dengeki G’s Magazine will announce that a Clannad After Story television sequel has been greenlit for production. The staff (including director Tatsuya Ishihara series script editor Fumihiko Shimo) and cast will be largely unchanged from the recently concluded 2007-2008 slice-of-life television series. The first televsion series is based on a visual novel franchise from the software developer Key (Air, Kanon). Key is heavily promoting Clannad by collaborating with Gamania Entertainment on that company’s Hiten Online and Holy Beast massively multiplayer online role-playng games (MMORPGs), and Yukiko Sumiyoshi launched a new Clannad ~tomoyo dearest~ manga based on the Tomoyo character last month.

I am glad Clannad is going to continue. Had it ended where it is now a lot of the positives would have been overshadowed by the fact that it did not fully resolve its story. I have thoroughly enjoyed what Clannad has presented so far, but my full opinions of the series weighed heavily on how it ended. Knowing that there was a lot more left to clarify and knowing that the 24 episodes was approaching, I was getting worried. And after episode 22 aired, I kept thinking, “That cannot be all there is…” So, hooray for ~After Story~’s announcement. I have actually been very good about not spoiling myself with game summaries (I do know the basic premise of the After Story arc… Nagisa and Tomoya married, Ushio, 10 years later), so I am looking forward to more from Kyoto Animation and Clannad’s cast and staff.

However, I do wonder when is this going to actually air? Summer? Fall? 2009?

Oh awesome!! I don’t want to spoil myself this time, so I’ll hold off on the game! ^_^

I wonder if this going to be a full season or a couple of OVAs…
