“Dango dango dango dango… Dango daikazoku…”

I smiled. Hearing Nagisa sing Dango Daikazoku just makes me feel all warm inside.

A lot of goodies this time around and some more revelations about Tomoyo towards the end of the episode. I must admit that although I did enjoy episode 1, I really wasn’t too blow away by it. This second episode though really shined in my eyes. It’s still way too early to say this fully, but right now, I feel like Clannad could potentially be better than both Air and Kanon mainly because of Tomoya. He just seems a helluva lot more interesting than Yuuichi or Yukito (though Air was more about Misuzu). Tomoya just seems to have more to him–a lot more multidimensional. The rest of the cast is pretty enjoyable as well. I’m really looking forward to learning more about them as the series continues on.

From a seiyuu standpoint, Clannad is just oozing with goodness. I was really excited when the cast was first announced, but hearing them all now makes the wait worthwhile. Definitely nice to finally hear Noto Mamiko and Nonaka Ai get more lines than background noise this time. I’m also loving Hirohashi Ryo’s non-deadpan voice and Kuwashima Houko is awesome as always. Also nice hearing the softer side of Kanda Akemi as Ryo (something you’d hear more from Matsuki Miyu). However, Nakahara Mai has really stood out through the first 2 episodes. I’m just so used to hearing her more aggressive or more upbeat side, that I’ve forgotten that she can do softer voices as well. She really is multi-talented when it comes to her voice, and she has really made Nagisa very enjoyable.

In the back of our collective minds, I think we’re all waiting for Kyoto Animation to have a misstep. I don’t anyone actually wants it to happen, but most know it will happen sooner or later. I am glad it will be later because Clannad has started out wonderfully.
