Nanoha can’t handle Bardiche.

I’ve been putting off this post for some time now. Well, I had a half day at work and have tomorrow off, so I went and snapped a few quick shots of Alter’s Nanoha alongside Good Smile Company’s Nanoha.

We demand a Hayate figure!!

As usual, I’m not one to review figures, but the differences between these two Nanoha figures aren’t are obvious as with the Fate figures. For starters the face on the Alter is figure is “better” than the GSC figure. Yes, I poke fun at Alter Nanoha’s face quite a bit, but in actuality, it’s a tad bit more accurate to the character design. In terms of pose though, the GSC figure takes the taco. It’s just so-o much more grandiose and alive. The added pizazz of the Flier Fins as well as the much more excited Raging Heart really add to the figure. Unfortunately, the added oomph adds a bit of flimsiness to the GSC figure in comparison to the Alter figure. I always feel like I’m going to break off part of Raging Heart or the Flier Fins anytime I touch that figure. That same thing goes for the Fate figure–Alter Fate looks and feels a lot more solid. I’ll probably feel a lot more secure about things once I pick up a better display case. For now, both Fate figures and both Nanoha figures (along with a few others) sit in open on an emptied bookshelf.As for the bases, I’m a sucker for magical circles, so the GSC figure wins there. The Alter one is pretty nice in it’s own right though, using the transparent blue.

Overall though, for Nanoha, I give the nod to the GSC figure over the Alter figure. It’s the other way around for Fate.

Surprisingly, the Fate and Nanoha figure I like the most are the two 1/6 Movic ones that were released late last year–both of which I do not have. HLJ had Nanoha listed as in stock, so I placed an order and received all the confirmation and whatnot. So, I requested shipping on that item. Two days later, it’s listed as Discontinued. Awesome. I e-mailed HLJ about this, but their response was confusing–instead of answering my question about if I would get my order sooner than later directly, I got a rehash of their FAQ. Blah blah blah… However, at the end they did say, “We don’t currently foresee any problems with filling your order.” Still pretty vague, but we’ll see what happens next week. We’ll see if I get one of those “Your Item Has Shipped!” e-mails. Apparently, Movic is re-releasing the figure later this month or in May (probably to coincide with their new StrikerS Nanoha), so I’m curious whether I’ll be getting it by the end of the month or sometime in late May. I had also added a cheap key chain in that order, so I’m hoping that key chain doesn’t ship by itself because shipping and handling will be ridiculous for that thing.

I’m prying for a Fate re-release. Fate with Bardiche in Scythe Form is drool-inducing.
